Main Purpose The main reasons for hiring are: (i) to fill a gap created by a departed employee, and (ii) to meet the needs of expanding the scope of services in various aspects of radiation safety. We are likely to consider suitable team members for fulltime, parttime and casual employment. The preferred choice is a permanent parttime team member, working four days per week, and available for occasional travel away from Brisbane. Role A Technical Officer / Scientific Officer will work as an active member of a small team, undertaking a multitasking role. Responsibilities include: Interacting with professionals in other organisations, including competitors Communicating with clients and service providers Engaging with other staff, including casual staff, in field and lab environments Working independently in the lab and at client sites, sometimes solo Calibrating diverse types of dose rate meters Performing minor repairs, often involving soldering components Maintaining lab and office computers and networkbased storage Reading and uploading reports for clients Managing and developing routine reporting templates Managing SOPs Using advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and sometimes CAD for graphing and graphics Learning new software as it becomes necessary Conducting field work with due diligence of data recording, equipment handling and transport Searching for and ordering materials and equipment for field and lab use Attributes Planning and organising Plan own work to support company priorities; adjust to changes and propose realistic contingency plans; contribute to team results. Safe work practice Adhere to safety instructions, including radiation safety. Communication Provide concise written and verbal communication; listen to others; redirect enquiries; search information effectively. Knowledge sharing Share knowledge with team members; learn from experience; respect conflict of interest and confidentiality. Technical credibility Ensure work complies with standards and methods. Educational Completed or nearly completing studies equivalent to a university degree in a relevant discipline (Physics, Engineering, etc.).
