The Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic marine services provider that prides itself on being an expert in marine logistics, with a commitment to safety, reliability, adaptability and punctuality. As a Marine Pilot with Odyssey Group, youll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels through the Port of Port Hedland. Reporting to our Pilot Service Delivery Manager and working closely with our client, Pilbara Ports, youll provide expert pilotage and berthing services, support the safe navigation of ships, and contribute to the smooth delivery of marine operations. Odyssey Group is seeking applications from experienced marine pilots and mariners to join our exceptional team of marine professionals. Candidates will be evaluated on their experience, alignment with our values and those of our client, and their ability to foster a highly professional, positive culture while contributing to Odyssey Groups broader business objectives. Minimum Qualifications and Desired Attributes Hold a minimum of a Master Class3 Certificate (or equivalent). Hold or be eligible to obtain an AMSA Medical Fitness Certificate and Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC). Odyssey values diversity and welcomes applications from current marine pilots and mariners with advanced shiphandling skills. Prior piloting experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidates. A genuine interest in developing as a Marine Pilot within an Australian port environment is essential. Position Objective & Key Responsibilities Demonstrated ability to work cohesively within a small team to deliver highquality outcomes. Conduct safe and efficient pilotage of vessels, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in ship handling and navigational skills in accordance with best practice, legislative requirements, and applicable policies and procedures. Attend required training to progress through pilotage levels to achieve restricted and unrestricted pilotage licences within required timeframes. Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across the team. Ensure all port and berthing operations are conducted safely and in accordance with relevant marine regulations and procedures. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, port users, stakeholders, and the broader team to enable effective communication, issue resolution, and business growth. Provide expert advice on marine operations, including navigational aids, marine infrastructure, and operational planning. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Pilot Service Delivery Manager.
