Lead the planning, management, execution and implementation of R&D product development, production and mission delivery activities Ensure the department delivers against allocated budgets and to strict deadlines Ensure all department engineering and production activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, plans and procedures Ensure department staff are suitably trained, qualified, certified (where applicable), accredited and current to meet company policy and regulatory requirements Identify, characterise, communicate, monitor and aggressively control, mitigate and resolve department programmatic, resource and technical risks and issues Collaborate with leadership, production and the other engineering departments to ensure effective businesswide coordination Ensure clear, timely and effective bidirectional communication between leadership and department staff for changes in organisation structure, policies, processes, procedures, status, risk, issues, feedback and concerns Responsible for ensuring the department conducts activities safely as per company policy (including risk ownership of department activities) Obtain and maintain an exceptional awareness and understanding of new and relevant technologies and processes in the departments relevant technology and engineering disciplines for the purposes of compliance and efficiencies Other duties as required by Management Key Relationships / Performance Management: Providing leadership, motivation and direction in the daytoday running of the department, ensuring it is managed effectively by setting clear objectives/KPIs and monitoring these in line with expectations Managing performance of the team, ensuring that any shortfalls in performance are managed and reported to the program manager Collaboration on technologies, processes and culture with the Head of Avionics for Launch Vehicles Monitoring progress and in collaboration with the Human Resources team identifying areas in which skills enhancement and further development may be necessary Ensuring all workers are inducted and operate to the companys policies/procedures, including casuals, contractors & visitors on site Ensuring employees work in line with company policies and procedures Completing performance appraisals in line with Gilmour Space policy and procedures Troubleshooting and problem solving as required Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Electronics, Avionics, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering 5 years of experience in a professional design engineering setting (excluding internships) NV1 Security Clearance eligible (preferred) Maintains or is eligible for CPENG and RPEQ Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team of multidisciplinary engineers Demonstrated experience designing space systems, subsystems or units; a portfolio or a collection of example projects would be looked upon favorably Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 10 years experience in a senior engineering role Postgraduate Degree in Electronics, Avionics, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering Experience working in space or aerospace industries Extensive exposure to satellite projects Experience working in both startup and corporate environments Highly developed project management and systems engineering skills Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis tools and CAD systems Proficient in Microsoft Office applications How to Apply: Applicants must be an Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident or have an appropriate Australian work visa or work entitlements.
