This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters where approximately 320 staff are based today, with plans to grow to ~400 staff by the end of 2026. DroneShield also operates in Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany, Dubai and has distributors in over 70 countries globally. About the role DroneShield is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW. The position will report to the VP of Embedded Systems, and the primary focus is to develop and maintain DroneShield''s RFAIATK Disruptor Capability. You will work closely with ML/AI, Data Science, RF and infrastructure teams to innovate and enhance DroneShields worldleading AntiDrone technology. Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations Implement new software features from concept to delivery, for example gathering user requirements to diagnosing issues in production. Interface with FrontEnd and API teams. Utilise leading industry practice to deliver and maintain robust and efficient APIs for seamless integration with external and internal systems. Advance the development of software architecture design processes within the team, ensuring software is designed for reliability and performance on resourceconstrained targets. Bring a testdriven development mindset. Document software architecture and processes. Work with the engineering team to ensure reliable and robust endtoend system operation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver on user and business requirements. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members. Qualifications, Experience and Skills BS degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 57 years of experience in related roles. Relevant roles may include: Software Engineer Linux Embedded Engineer Software Architect Knowledge of the following would also be essential: Software development experience in Python API design Software architecture and design patterns (event loops, dependency injection, objectoriented principles) Interdevice and interprocess communication using gRPC, REST, raw TCP/UDP, or other high performance messaging protocols Development tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, CI/CD Knowledge of the following would also be desirable: Comfortable on the command line in a Linuxfirst environment Software development experience in Golang or Modern C++ Software Architecture design Microservice architecture Hardwareintheloop CI/CD design Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.
