In-house Legal Counsel (Competition Law) Fixed-Term Contract Elevate has partnered with a renowned retail group to onboard a skilled Competition Lawyer (3+ years PQE) for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role focuses on a niche intersection of competition and property law, driven by upcoming regulatory changes effective 1 January. The successful lawyer will advise on transactions requiring special approval from the ACCC under the new mergers law, including leasing or purchasing land (e.g., paddocks) for major Australia-based retailers. Ideal Candidate A mid-level lawyer with a strong background in competition law and experience handling regulatory submissions. This project offers the opportunity to work on impactful matters in a dynamic and evolving regulatory landscape. Key Responsibilities Provide legal advice on transactions subject to ACCC approval. Prepare and submit regulatory submissions. Liaise directly with the ACCC to facilitate transaction approvals. Advise on the intersection between competition and property law. Support a portfolio of smaller, high-impact matters. Required Experience & Skills 3+ years post-admission experience in competition law. Demonstrated experience preparing regulatory submissions in similar regimes. Strong understanding of ACCC processes and regulatory frameworks. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple locations. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
