Salary is competitive and includes fully maintained residential accommodation, electricity, water, WiFi, and access to meals in the school dining room. Reports to: Principal Classification: Determined on experience Position Objective The Head of Boarding is a key member of the Executive Leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of Boarding, including two boarding houses, boarding staff, and boarding facilities. The role combines strategic leadership and daytoday operational management, with a focus on the care, safety, and wellbeing of boarding students. Key Characteristics Leadership Maintain a visible, handson presence in all boarding activities. Oversee policies, procedures and compliance with ABSA and CRICOS standards. Lead, support and train boarding staff, including induction, meetings, performance reviews and goalsetting. Coordinate leave, health needs, maintenance, safety, events and communication with stakeholders. Collaborate with HR, IT and other departments for smooth operations. Community Leadership Foster a shared vision for boarding among students, staff, families and the wider community. Build positive, respectful relationships with families. Promote school ethos at events and in publications. Provide proactive pastoral care and support student wellbeing, resilience and accountability. Uphold consistent behavioural, presentation and academic expectations. Ensure childprotection training, reporting and monitoring are followed by all staff. Educational Leadership Support academic progress through collaboration with academic leaders. Provide professional development for boarding staff. Deliver a structured lifeskills program for boarders. Manage rosters, budgets, attendance and digital systems in line with dutyofcare and compliance standards. Oversee accurate recordkeeping, operational processes and financial requirements. Use data analysis to inform programs and initiatives. Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organisational, communication and problemsolving skills. Lead with professionalism, discretion and high visibility. Prior experience in a leadership role. Comprehensive understanding of student pastoral and wellbeing issues, relevant state and national legislation and their implications for school leaders, teachers and students.
