Job Description

Position Overview Brassal State School is seeking a Head of Department Student Services to join their team, commencing 22 January 2026. In this pivotal role, the Head of Department Student Services will work closely with the leadership team to support strong educational outcomes, enhance teaching and learning, and nurture positive, collaborative community partnerships. This position is being offered in a Temporary PartTime capacity (0.5FTE). Brassal State School is also recruiting for a Deputy Principal (0.5FTE). HoD-SS Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students. Where requested, prepare all data returns for the Principal. Provide management and engagement strategies including induction activities of new arrivals, and advise on specific academic, social and emotional needs of new arrivals. Monitor students individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary. Communicate and work with parents, staff, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to develop strategies to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.
