OverviewDeputy Director-General, Environment and Heritage Policy and Programs. The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is inviting applications from an inspirational and dynamic senior executive to guide the Environment and Heritage Policy and Programs (EHPP) division. This is a rare opportunity to shape Queenslands environmental future through strategic policy reform, major program delivery and strong partnerships.With responsibility for a workforce of approximately 227 FTE and the stewardship of a significant budget, the Deputy Director-General will champion a forward agenda that includes a substantial legislative work program and leading strategic policy for DETSI with strengthened environmental stewardship outcomes for Queenslanders.About the DepartmentThe Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) recognises the enormous value that a clean environment, innovative society and economy, and a diverse and inclusive culture makes to Queenslanders lives. The role provides the opportunity to shape impactful policy outcomes for Queenslanders while working with a committed and collaborative executive team. As DDG, you will:Provide strategic leadership across major departmental and cross sector priorities that support whole of government objectives.Deliver authoritative and trusted advice on policy, legislation and program matters to the Minister, Director-General and Executive Leadership Team.Build and maintain high impact relationships with industry, conservation bodies and government partners to drive outcomes.Oversee the delivery of major programs that contribute to long term environmental protection and sustainable growth.Inspire a high performing and collaborative workforce and reinforce DETSIs leadership behaviours.Shape a proactive work program and lead significant legislative, policy, and organisational change.About YouYou will be a senior executive leader with a strong record of achievement in strategic reform and be a respected leader in the environment, conservation, resources, agriculture or waste sectors. You will demonstrate:A strong record of achievement in policy, legislation and large-scale program delivery.A dynamic leadership style that engages people, lifts performance and supports innovation and diversity.A confident, influential and collaborative communication approach, including proactive engagement with Ministers, executive leaders and stakeholders.The capacity to navigate complex environments with clarity, foresight and sound judgement.A commitment to partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities in policy and program design.What DETSI OffersDETSI provides a fast paced, diverse and influential portfolio where you can lead meaningful and lasting change.
