Wildlife Information Rescue And Education Service Campbelltown NSW WIRES is Australias largest wildlife rescue organisation and has been rescuing and caring for sick, injured, and orphaned native animals for over 40 years. Our ongoing mission is to actively rehabilitate and preserve Australian wildlife and inspire others to do the same. WIRES operate a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Office assisting wildlife and the community across Australia 24-hours a day providing rescue advice and assistance for over 148,000 animals annually as well as provide full-time mobile Wildlife Emergency Responders operating across NSW, Queensland and Tasmania. About The Role Wildlife Emergency Responders rescue, assist, and transport, sick or injured wildlife across NSW. The role is guided by our Head Office Emergency Response Team, working closely with members of the public, volunteers, and vets, as well as engaging in community wildlife education opportunities. Wildlife Emergency Responders have access to a wildlife ambulance containing emergency rescue equipment along with ongoing training both in wildlife rescue and emergency response. Responsibilities Rescue, assist and transport sick or injured wildlife. Liaise with members of the public, volunteers, and vets. Understand and comply with species specific Codes of Practice. Effectively communicate with members of the public, media, external agencies and stakeholders. Uphold a very high standard of animal welfare. Provide wildlife education and guidance to the community. Comply with WHS requirements along with WIRESpolicies and procedures. Demonstrated experience in handling and working with wildlife. First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain. Q Fever and Rabies vaccinations or willingness to obtain. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to carry out wildlife emergency response duties during natural disaster events.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. High levels of computer literacy. Ability to perform physical duties. Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent. Medical assessment of fitness for the role. Highly Desirable Flying-fox experience and training. Koala experience and training. Snake handling experience and training. Vet nursing, animal care, conservation, ecology, animal welfare or emergency response experience.
