Position Purpose Undertake a range of technical and administrative duties to ensure that all relevant plant, vehicles, equipment and related mechanical components are in place, well maintained and kept in safe working order so that Councils programme of works is able to be met under the guidance of the Team Leader Workshop Provide guidance and supervision to workshop staff to ensure all work undertaken is in line with organisational and industry and safety standards. Ensure all necessary repairs and maintenance to plant, vehicles and equipment are undertaken as required with minimal downtime. Liaise with Team Leaders and Works Coordinator where necessary to assist this process. Create and maintain an appropriate maintenance schedule for all plant vehicles and equipment. Liaise with other staff responsible for items of plant and equipment as and when required to ensure all servicing and maintenance is done in line with the schedule. Manage the allocated budget effectively for the workshop and undertake other administrative duties such as (but not limited to) reports, responding to enquiries, completing and costing of time sheets accurately, procurement and inventory management for the good running of the workshop. Participate in the preparation of plant replacement plans, asset management plans and lifecycle costing of plant and equipment to assist with fleet management decision making. This includes participating in tender evaluation panels when required and providing technical input for consideration. Conduct routine inspections on operational plant and equipment and provide feedback to the Works Team Leaders and Coordinators as required. When required, report and record non-compliance of plant and equipment (and associated products) the Works Team Leaders and/or Works Coordinator. Actively participate in maintenance team''s toolbox meetings and provide workshop advice as required. Selection criteria Selection will be based on the following Selection Criteria however, reference will also be made to other listed skills, knowledge, and attributes as required in the Position Description Minimal Cert III VET Automotive/Mechanical Trade Qualification Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of a wide range of plant and equipment, as well as experience in plant and equipment maintenance, maintenance programs, practices, and standards Effective communication skills both written and verbal Well-developed interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer service focus A contemporary working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence Minimum level - Medium Rigid Truck OH&S White Card Ability to demonstrate and display the Hepburn Shire Council values - accountability, respect, excellence, trust and fun.
