Plant Nursery - 2 Roles - Maintenance Person & Nursery Propagation Supervisor Instant Green Plant NurseryMultiple Roles! (Scroll down to see description for each) Maintenance Person (Potential Maintenance Manager Role for the right person) About the Role As our Grounds Maintenance Person, youll be responsible for the daytoday care and upkeep of the nursery grounds with a focus on irrigation and spraying. This includes maintaining lawns and growing pad areas, irrigation systems, and ensuring all equipment and machinery are in safe working order. Youll play a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and professional environment that supports the nurserys operations. Key Responsibilities Maintain lawns, growing pad areas, pathways, and nursery grounds Monitor and repair irrigation systems as needed Spraying (pesticide/herbicide) Perform regular checks, cleaning, and basic repairs on tools, vehicles, and machinery Carry out general property maintenance (fencing, shade structures, drainage, etc.) Keep all work areas clean, tidy, and hazardfree Support nursery operations when required Must be reliable and able to work efficiently unsupervised Skills & Experience Previous experience in grounds or property maintenance, landscaping, or a nursery environment Knowledge of irrigation systems and small engine or machinery maintenance Knowledge of relevant pesticide/spray regimes in a Plant Nursery highly considered Qualification in Nursery Operations or Horticulture highly considered Ability to use a range of tools and equipment safely and effectively Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining neat, functional spaces Physically fit and capable of outdoor, handson work Current drivers licence required (forklift or bobcat licence desirable) Nursery Hand - Propagation Supervisor About the role As one of our propagators you will be part of a team responsible for growing new plants from seeds/cuttings. Key duties include preparing and maintaining our tubestock pad, monitoring plant health and keeping detailed records. The role also involves communicating with supervisors about the need to repropagate, collecting materials and ensuring optimal growing conditions are maintained. Key responsibilities Plant Propagation propagating new plants using methods like seeds, cuttings and division. Plant and materials care monitoring the health of plants Record keeping accurately recording daily and seasonal propagation activity, including plant labels and inventory. Collaboration communicating with supervisors and other staff about the status of propagation, plant stock and equipment needs. Supervising and leading a team in both vegetative propagation and seed/split propagation. Skills and experience Knowledge of propagation techniques a comprehensive understanding of various propagation methods across multiple species. Plant health and care the ability to identify and treat pests and diseases. Attention to detail is very important. A qualification in horticulture is highly considered. Nursery Hand - Advanced (Bagged Tree stock) About the role Responsible for the production of advanced tree stock (45L bag stock and above), and starter stock (200mm300mm pot plants). Key duties include production and bagging up stock, moving stock, weeding/pest management and preparing growing sites and adjusting irrigation systems. Core Responsibilities Planting assist with transplanting and potting trees and other stock for our advanced areas. Plant Care some plants require hand watering, irrigation system adjustments, weeding and fertilising. Pest and disease management monitor plants for signs of pests or diseases and liaise with the Operations Manager/Maintenance Manager regarding control measures. Maintenance keep work areas clean, maintain grounds and move nursery supplies, equipment and plants using a tractor/loader. Dispatch prepare plants for sale (detailing) and move them to the dispatch area. Skills and Experience Physical fitness the role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving heavy items. Horticultural knowledge a strong understanding of plant identification, cultivation and care is highly valued. Operating machinery experience in operating hand tools and machinery such as tractors/loaders and irrigation systems. A forklift ticket or willingness to obtain will be highly regarded.
