About the Role Reporting to the Senior Commercial and Contracts Officer, the Commercial & Contracts Officer will be responsible for providing effective and timely contractual, commercial, compliance and procedural support to bid teams, project teams, the supply chain function and the wider PMB group in collaboration with the Senior Commercial and Contracts Officer. This role is a great opportunity for someone wishing to further their career in the Commercial/Contracts discipline of the Australian Submarine or Australian Defence industry. Key Responsibilities Commercial and Contractual Support Provide contractual, commercial, and administrative support to the commercial team, including drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, deeds, change proposals, commercial correspondence, and related documentation. Support business development, engineering, finance, manufacturing, project management, human resources, and supply chain functions on existing and proposed business dealings or internal process changes. Assist in developing, updating, implementing, and maintaining departmental processes, procedures, and systems, including identifying and implementing improvements. Negotiation and Compliance Lead or support contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers during bids, tenders, contract variations, and other commercial processes. Ensure compliance with legislative and contractual obligations, including preparing and reviewing documentation, policies, and procedures to meet flow-down requirements (e.g., environmental, modern slavery, security, export control). Respond to ad hoc customer requests in line with contractual requirements, ensuring timely and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Project and Supply Chain Support Provide commercial support for supply chain and project team requests for quotes, including drafting and reviewing contractual and quotation documentation. Assist the Project and Contract Administrator with maintaining contractual registers, baselines, and commercial documentation. Coordinate contractual and commercial inputs for project reports and support the negotiation and execution of Non-Disclosure Agreements as required. Identify opportunities to enhance commercial and contract structures, processes, and systems, and assist with implementation. Perform other tasks as directed by the reporting Manager. About You You possess excellent analytical, negotiation, prioritisation and customer relation skills and have a good understanding of various cost drivers and commercial risks. You thrive in fast-paced environments and have excellent communication skills teamed with a high level of organization and initiative. You will be a collaborator with a proven record in building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Your Skills & Experience The successful candidate will have: Tertiary degree qualifications in law, business or engineering. Prior experience working in a commercial role, ideally within a defence, manufacturing, or engineering environment. An understanding of defence security and export control aspects of either Australia, the UK and/or the US (desirable not essential). Prerequisites Be eligible to successfully obtain and maintain an NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance (must be an Australian Citizen). Hold a current police clearance and drivers licence. Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug & Alcohol screen. Ability to travel occasionally interstate and overseas for work and training purposes. Why PMB Defence?
