Bush''s Proteins is a function of the A J Bush & Sons business which is family owned and operated with over 115 years of history in the meat industry. The Head Office is located in Homebush, NSW. Bush''s Proteins converts animal by-products into valuable commodities such as meat-based protein meals and fats / oils, commonly used as key ingredients in stock feed, pet food, aqua feed and fertiliser. The QLD operations is rapidly growing with the need for a WHS Manager/ HR support officer to be part of the growth and success of the plant. About the Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Workplace Health & Safety Manager / Human Resources Support Officer to join our team. This dual-focus role is responsible for leading WHS initiatives onsite while providing essential HR support to both the Assistant Plant Manager and the HR Manager based at our NSW Head Office. You will play a key part in fostering a safe, compliant, and positive work environment, ensuring our WHS systems are effectively implemented and maintained, and supporting key HR functions including recruitment, workforce planning, and employee relations. Key Responsibilities Workplace Health & Safety (Primary Focus) Maintain and update WHS policies and procedures in accordance with site requirements and state regulations. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and standards. Implement WHS components of the companys Management Systems, including risk control and safety documentation. Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments. Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventative actions. Deliver safety inductions and training for new and existing employees. Develop work orders and complete management reviews of WHS activities through the Maintain X platform. Lead incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions. Drive and promote a proactive safety culture across the site. Human Resources Support (Secondary Focus) Act as the onsite HR representative, supporting the HR Manager at Head Office with daily HR operations. Assist the Assistant Plant Manager with staffing needs, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and workforce planning. Support compliance with Australian Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs), including interpretation and communication to employees. Provide advice on employee relations matters, performance management, and conflict resolution. Handle HR documentation and employee concerns with a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. About You Experience in WHS management, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk assessment processes, and safety systems. Previous HR experience or exposure to HR functions is highly desirable. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while building strong relationships across the site. Experience with EBAs and HR compliance (advantageous).
