Pinky and Kamal is an Australian activewear and lifestyle brand known for considered fabrics, refined design, and elevated everyday essentials. We are in an exciting growth phase across e-commerce and wholesale, and were looking for a highly organised, creative, and detail-driven Fashion Design Assistant to support our design and production workflow. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced small-business environment, is passionate about product, and enjoys working across all stages of development, from early concept through to final production. Reporting directly to the Founder/Creative Director, you will support the design and production process across Activewear, Ready-to-Wear, Accessories, and upcoming seasonal collections. Key Responsibilities Assisting with concept development, moodboards, fabric research, and seasonal inspiration. Helping refine silhouettes, colour palettes, and trim details. Creating and updating high-quality CADs and technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator (essential). Updating spec sheets and ensuring all design files remain accurate and detailed. Supporting fittings and contributing to fit notes, garment adjustments, and QC checks. Assisting with lookbooks, linesheets, and development decks. Communicating with offshore manufacturers (China/Indonesia) on samples, comments, and timelines. Tracking samples, swatches, lab dips, strike-offs and ensuring they are on schedule. Helping prepare POs, BOMs, and production handovers. Managing fabric libraries, trims library, and sample archive. Involvement in sustainability and fabric certification organisation. Supporting campaign shoots with styling prep, packing product, and on-set organisation. Helping prepare for wholesale showings (sample sets, labelling, organising SKUs, steaming). Maintaining an organised design studio + digital files. Updating Cin7 Core with new products + assisting with SKUs. Ad-hoc creative and admin tasks to support the design and production team. Key Skills Have studied Fashion Design, Textile Design, Product Development or a similar field (required). Highly competent with technical drawings, garment specifications, and creating detailed CADs in Illustrator. A creative at heart with strong organisational skills. Experience in fashion design, product development, or a similar role. Strong eye for detail, fit, fabrication, and construction. Comfortable communicating with manufacturers and working across multiple projects at once. Passionate about activewear, lifestyle clothing, and thoughtful design. A positive, collaborative person who loves being part of a small but growing team. Experience with technical activewear or knit/stretch garments. Basic experience in Cin7 Core, Shopify, or wholesale linesheets. Understanding of sustainable fabrics, certifications, and responsible production. Ability to sketch by hand.
