AAC Adult Staff Member 103 Army Cadet Unit (Detailed Role Description) Adult staff at 103 Army Cadet Unit (ACU) are committed volunteers who play a vital role in supporting the development of young people aged 1317. They help deliver a structured, safe, and engaging training program aligned with the values of the Australian Army Cadets and the broader SouthQueensland Brigade. AAC staff members act as youth mentors, instructors, and leaders, guiding cadets through activities that build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills. They work within a disciplined, valuesbased environment while fostering inclusiveness, respect, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Youth Mentorship & Guidance Provide positive rolemodelling and mentorship to cadets. Support cadets personal development, wellbeing, and confidence. Encourage teamwork, respect, and discipline in all activities. Training Delivery & Support Assist in delivering lessons and practical training such as drill, navigation, fieldcraft, leadership tasks, and teambuilding activities. Supervise cadets during weekly parades, weekend exercises, and community events. Ensure content aligns with AAC standards and the unit training plan. Safety & Duty of Care Maintain a safe environment consistent with Defence and AAC policies. Support risk management, emergency response readiness, and WHS compliance. Supervise cadets during transport, outdoor activities, and field training. Administrative Support Assist with cadet attendance, equipment management, stores, logistics, and documentation. Support planning and coordination of training activities and community engagements. Contribute to unit organisation, preparation, and reporting requirements. Community & Values Engagement Represent 103 ACU at community events, ceremonies, and parades. Build positive relationships with parents, schools, and local organisations. Promote and uphold the AAC values: Courage, Initiative, Teamwork, Respect, SelfDiscipline, and the Spirit of Adventure. Expected Attributes Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Type Of Work Education & Training Food Preparation & Service Fundraising & Events Sport & Physical Activity Time Required Minimum Age: 18 years old. Volunteer Term: Preferably 12 months or longer. Weekly Commitment: 1 evening per week (typically 3 hours) for parade nights (Tuesdays). Occasional weekend activities (day or overnight camps). Training All volunteers receive free, nationally recognised training, including: youth safety and child protection, field leadership and instruction, drill and ceremonial procedures.
