We are seeking experienced and motivated Agricultural Technicians to join our team on a fulltime permanent basis, supporting operations at our Virginia site in South Australia. As a valuable member of our team, this position will play a vital role in the success of our operations. Reporting directly to the Farm Manager you will be working in an outdoor farm environment. An attractive remuneration package between $70,000 - $90,000 is available to the right candidates. Responsibilities Work on multiple sites and growing regions with different climatic and soil conditions. Undertake examinations and testing of soil, crops, etc. and develop procedures in relation to planting, cultivation and harvesting of crops to assist the business with obtaining the highest yields possible. Assist in developing new methods of planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing crops to achieve optimum land usage. Identify pathogenic microorganisms and insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops, and assist in devising methods of control. Liaise with the agronomist on the control of pests and diseases. Analyse produce to set and maintain standards of quality. Soil, leaf and water sampling for testing. Collect and collate data on yields, fertilisation, pesticide usage and other results. Develop fertilizer to maximise productivity results. Oversee inspection, grading, sorting, storage and postharvest treatment of harvested products to allow for recognition of defective/seconds product and investigating causes. Maintain basic records such as pesticide use, yields, or costs and provide to management as requested. Monitor and record data on field operations to identify problems with water, fertilizer or chemical application. Report any production, quality or safety problems/concerns to the agronomist. Understand the sites commitment to the ongoing compliance to the Freshcare Food Safety and Quality Standard. Comply with the companys quality and safety policies and procedures. Apply pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers to crops as directed. Operate various equipment used in agricultural production. All other requirements as directed to achieve business objectives. Requirements Relevant qualification plus at least 1 year of relevant experience OR at least 3 years of relevant experience. Experience in potato, carrot or onion crops would be beneficial. Unrestricted Class C drivers licence (essential). Knowledge of farming operations and equipment. Cultural adaptability and a willingness to work with a diverse range of stakeholders. Ability and willingness to undertake manual and sometimes physical work. Ability and willingness to work outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions. A willingness to be handson and participate in a broad range of duties; a strong work ethic is essential. Respect for others and pride in the teams performance. Commitment to ongoing learning.
