Job Description: Principal Consultant Data & Analytics Role Overview We are seeking a Principal Consultant to spearhead the strategy, design, and implementation of cuttingedge data platforms that blend traditional data rigour with advanced AI/ML capabilities. This role is for a visionary leader with deep foundational data concepts, proven success in cloud data solutions, and direct, recent experience driving modern data engineering concepts and innovation, including expertise with AI agents. Key Responsibilities Strategic Data Architecture & Thought Leadership: Provide executive-level thought leadership and define the technical roadmap for enterprisewide data modernisation, cloud migration, and AIdriven architecture adoption. Cloud Data Platform Design & Delivery: Architect and lead the endtoend delivery of highly scalable, secure, and performant cloudnative data and analytics solutions utilising platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or Amazon Redshift. AIAgentic Data Engineering Implementation: Lead or substantially contribute to at least one significant AIagentic data engineering implementation within the past six months, demonstrating expertise in leveraging AI/ML for automated data workflow, governance, or quality optimisation. Foundational Data Concept Mastery: Enforce best practices in foundational data concepts, including robust data modelling (e.g., Dimensional Modelling), data governance, lineage, and metadata management across all architectural designs. Modern Data Engineering & Pipeline Development: Design and oversee the development of complex data lakes, data warehouses, and modern ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, PySpark, and advanced SQL, optimising for latency and scale. Architectural Governance & Documentation: Develop, present, and gain approval for all core architectural artefacts (conceptual diagrams, highlevel and detailed designs) through architecture review boards. Expert Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary technical expert, managing expectations and communicating complex technical strategy effectively to Clevel executives, technical teams, and nontechnical business partners. Technical Team Mentorship & Leadership: Act as a handson technical mentor, guiding and elevating consulting and engineering teams on architecture best practices, cloud utilisation, and delivery excellence in an agile environment. Requirements Analysis & Solution Ideation: Lead complex requirements gathering, opportunity assessment, and solution ideation workshops to translate ambiguous business challenges into clear, implementable technical architectures. Required Skills & Experience 15+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics, and Cloud Architecture roles. Mandatory: Proven experience in a Principal Architect or Lead Engineering role with significant architectural ownership. Deep Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of major cloud data services (e.g., AWS: S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena; Azure: ADLS Gen2, Synapse, ADF) and/or Databricks/Snowflake. Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Python, SQL, PySpark, and shell scripting for highvolume data processing. Critical: Demonstrated ability to lead and successfully deliver AI and/or data engineering projects. Core Skills: Exceptional proficiency in stakeholder management and presentation skills.
