Academic Head of Library (Coordinator2) Commencing Term12026 Oakhill College seeks to appoint an innovative Academic Head of Library with excellent leadership, communication skills, library and classroom experience. The successful applicant will have an understanding of boys education, knowledge of current developments in teaching and learning and a passion for teaching. The PJWalsh Oakhill College Library is a modern informationlearning hub that reimagines how students develop informationliteracy skills and a love of literature. The Academic Head of Library provides invaluable learning on how to locate relevant resources, evaluate the credibility and usefulness of information, apply literacy strategies, and be a thoughtful digital citizen. Key Duties and Responsibilities Provide effective leadership, supervision and a safe library environment. Oversee the daytoday running and management of the library. Maintain a professional team environment and meet expectations to the highest standard of support. Support staff and students to ensure success in teaching and learning. Partner with educators to design and teach evidencebased curricula and assessments that integrate deeper learning, critical thinking, information literacy, literature appreciation, digital citizenship, creativity, innovation and technology. Lead learning to cultivate broader understanding of the skills that comprise success in a digital age. Understand the colleges information needs to identify and invest in resources such as books, ebooks and digital online tools to support student learning. Maintain the library budget and expenditure using data and student / staff feedback. Meet regularly with library team members to communicate goals, mentor them and provide performance feedback where necessary. Create and maintain a Professional Development Plan for library team members and formally review them on a planned basis. Formulate a Library Strategic Plan and provide progress reports to the Principal. Develop a vision for teaching and learning. Administer a faculty. Lead special projects as directed by the Principal. The Successful Applicant Will Demonstrate Qualifications held in Library Science, Literature and Education. Library leadership experience (preferred). Minimum five years experience in a teacherlibrarian role. Proven ability in successful team management and conflict resolution. Experience managing a library and information services, including system administration of an automated library system. Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including students, parents, other staff, schooling regulatory authorities and suppliers. Warm, welcoming disposition; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work autonomously and in a team; flexibility, creativity and excellent attention to detail.
