Job no : 505156Work type : Contract Full TimeLocation : SydneyCategories : Journalism / Content MakingUltimo, Sydney LocationFixed term, full-time contract for 12 monthsUnique opportunity to join the ABC election teamBase salary $92K - $99K plus 15.4% ABC nominated superannuationThe RoleThe ABC is looking for an election researcher to work closely with the Chief Elections and Data Analyst and to support the creation of timely, trusted election content across ABC platforms. You''ll help manage key databases, produce research materials, and dive into electoral research at local, state, and federal levels.The JobAssist in maintaining and updating election databases, including information on electorates, candidates, MPs, and results.Support the creation and fact-checking of election guides, research materials, and digital content.Assist with managing ABC''s election websites and ensuring timely, accurate updates.Research electoral trends and political developments to help inform editorial coverage.Work with the Chief Elections and Data Analyst preparing for election night broadcasts and related events.Build relationships with election commissions and ABC teams to coordinate election coverage.Contribute to innovative, inclusive election coverage that informs and engages audiences nationwideProvide research and support for non-election related data journalismAbout YouYou''ll haveRelevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.Strong interest in Australian politics and elections at all levels.Experience in election research, data entry, or database management.Skilled in interpreting and summarising complex political information.Familiarity with programming languages including SQL, R, and / or Python an advantage but not a prerequisiteFamiliar with digital content systems and website updates.Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.Commitment to authentic storytelling that reflects Australia''s diversity.About ABC NewsQuality journalism, powerful investigations, outstanding production, and a collaborative, engaged and supportive workplace that offers opportunities and career development across regional and metropolitan Australia.
