Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to represent our clients interests on a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the Central West NSW region. This is a genuine owners representative position where you will be the primary interface between the project owner and their EPC contractor throughout the construction phase. It is a fixedterm 12month contract with extension or possible conversion to permanent. This sitebased role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in delivering significant renewable energy infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the EPC contractor delivers on their commitments across safety, quality, schedule, and contractual obligations while protecting our clients investment throughout the project lifecycle. As Site Manager, you will oversee all construction activities, manage stakeholder relationships with grid connection partners and local authorities, and lead a Site Coordinator who will report directly to you. The role offers significant autonomy and direct influence over project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Contractor Oversight & Site Governance Represent the owner onsite, ensuring the EPC contractor delivers in accordance with contract terms, technical specifications, and project schedule. Manage interfaces, risks, and disputes with the EPC contractor and grid connection partners onsite. Liaise with local authorities via assigned project roles. Manage the Site Coordinator assigned to the project. Monitor and report on construction activities and attend witness points to ensure compliance with relevant design, specifications, codes, and standards. Manage claims such as warranty defects with EPC contractor, key equipment suppliers, or insurance claims. Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Manage and coordinate the implementation of the clients Integrated Management System across the site. Ensure contractors comply with obligations and responsibilities as defined in the companys HSSE policies. Support development and review of HSSE documentation, including risk registers, SWMS, procedures, permits, and audit findings. Participate in HSSE workshops and other activities, including inspections, audits, and investigations. Quality Assurance & Control Govern the quality of project documentation, including ITPs, ITRs, and payment claims. Maintain and update a daily site diary to capture site progress and activities. Manage, coordinate, and prepare required reports, including regulatory (quarterly, annual) and internal (weekly, monthly) reporting. Technical Oversight Assist with the management of engineering quality, design optimisation, and constructability of all deliverables and activities performed at the site. Assist in the review and approval of technical queries, design changes, and technical deviation requests raised by contractors in a timely manner. About You Essential Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience managing construction in the power generation industry. Understanding of complex, multifaced major energy projects across multiple jurisdictions. Working knowledge of acts, regulations, and policies governing project development, construction, and operation. High level of safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices. Strong situational awareness and problemsolving capabilities. Proven ability to manage tasks effectively and meet deadlines. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Local to the Central West NSW region or willing to relocate. Desirable Understanding of project risks and potential exposure across solar, battery, and other renewable project types through construction and operational phases. Experience contributing to technical solutions for major energy projects across the construction and operation lifecycle. Experience in community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
