Our services span from initial planning and investment, through start-up and operations.Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.The M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.Job Summary:In this role, you will be responsible for leading the civil/structural engineering works, including plans, designs and constructability reviews for the project team.This position is designated as parttime telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of inperson attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly inperson schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership Major Responsibilities:Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specificationsDesigns, develops, modifies, and evaluates civil/structural components andprocesses utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), designstandards and guides (including international), Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices(DRNs)Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysisDetermines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirementsOriginates and checks complex structural engineering deliverablesAnalyses problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutionsAnalyses and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirementsPlans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendationsPrepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendationsProvides assistance toproject and construction management inidentifying and complying with project civil/structural requirements and inaddressing issues as they arise during project executionEducation and Experience Requirements:Requires a bachelor''s degree (or international equivalent) and 1013 years of relevant experience or 1417 years of relevant work experienceRequired Knowledge and Skills:Considered highly skilled and proficient in structural engineering disciplineSeasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative waysDesign of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations (including piling), retaining walls, etc.Design in 3D environment using finite element analyses, dynamic analyses, advanced seismic parametersDesign using international codes and standardsDesign using 3D analysis software (e.g. STAAD.Pro, Strand 7)Leading a small design team of engineers and designersCooperating with other functions (e.g. contracts, procurement) and creating scope of work for service and material requisitionsCompleting technical evaluations of submitted proposalsFor decades, Bechtel has worked to inspire the next generation of employees and beyond!
