We are looking for a highly motivated Fire Safety Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Brisbane. Responsibilities Conduct fire risk analysis, code compliance assessments, and conceptual fire safety designs. Provide independent detail engineering and consulting on projects with respect to the International Building & Fire Codes and related NFPA, FM Global standards. Perform fire hazard assessment design calculations and ensure plans comply with relevant codes and standards. Develop performance-based strategies and/or code alternates, utilizing fire engineering. Contribute to or prepare technical reports in various phases of engineering. Support site field visits to obtain information and data to support projects. Participate in and contribute to design reviews. Prepare, review and issue material requisition for mechanical equipment such as fire water pumps, foam systems, sprinkler and spray systems, and firefighting equipment. Prepare, review and evaluate vendor technical bid evaluations and queries for mechanical equipment. Provide services across sectors including mining, power, nuclear, thermal, infrastructure, and oil and gas. Prepare hazardous area classification. Perform hydraulic calculation reports. Provide inputs for piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID). Perform fire and gas location layout and philosophy. Perform consequence modeling and gas dispersion studies. Desirable Software Skills DNV PHAST and SAFETI PIPENET AFT Fathom CFD modeling Qualifications Fulltime Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution. Postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering considered a strong asset. Aptitude toward alternative compliance approaches and outside the box thinking. Strong written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and relationshipmanagement skills. Skills Required Problemsolving and decisionmaking skills. Experience 820 years. Good understanding of the flow of information and data within a project environment. Understanding of commercial management as it relates to equipment packages or contracts. Understanding of construction and commissioning methodologies for the discipline. Familiarity with operability and maintainability reviews, HAZOP studies.
