Executive Manager, Queensland Fire Department Queensland Fire Department Brisbane QLD $89,515 - $98,158 a year Full time, Contract, Part time, Casual/Temporary About us The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and supporting community safety outcomes. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), and works together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and supports a large volunteer membership across the state. The QFD is committed to reframing the departments relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations through activities identified in the QFD Reframing the Relationship Plan, contributing to Closing the Gap outcomes and building our cultural capability. Purpose of the role The Relations and Standards branch strives to ensure QFDs workforce upholds the highest levels of professional and ethical standards as expected of the Queensland Government and the community. It achieves this through managing workplace complaints, conducting high-level and complex disciplinary investigations, and proactively identifying and providing advice on conduct-related matters. As part of Workforce Supportincluding the Workforce Liaison and Workplace Standards teamsthis unit works closely with the regional network of Senior Advisors, Workplace Standards (SAWS) to increase people management capability, reduce instances of poor workplace conduct, and enhance positive workplace experience. Key requirements No mandatory qualifications, but extensive practical experience in human resources or industrial relations roles and/or qualifications in these fields are favourably regarded. Your key accountabilities Lead, manage, collate and analyse trends in QFD conduct and performance excellence management to provide recommendations for continuous improvement and report on positive outcomes. Provide strategic advice and coaching to senior management on workplace conduct policy and practice to ensure governance, compliance and continuous improvement towards positive culture change. Develop strategies and resources designed to enhance the capability of managers and human resource practitioners (including volunteers) in the management of employee conduct and performance. Research and prepare complex submissions, briefs, reports and correspondence relating to issues and initiatives, in accordance with legislative and departmental requirements and governance. Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with internal and external key stakeholders across state government departments and other agencies to promote positive outcomes for QFD. Represent the department on committees, working groups and whole-of-government forums to promote positive outcomes, service delivery enhancements and successful program delivery. Manage and oversee projects and initiatives using best practice methodologies, ensuring they are delivered within agreed timeframes and business objectives are achieved. Lead and manage the functions of the team through effective human resource and financial management practices, including developing staff through performance, planning and review.
