Job Description

Who we are looking for Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities : Critical Thinking: Demonstrates a pragmatic and astute approach to problem-solving and decision making. Customer Service: Exceptional skills in troubleshooting, incident management, and providing excellent customer service. This role requires the applicant to occasionally perform technical upgrades outside of core business hours. This work may take place on weekends or public holidays. This role requires the applicant to participate in a rotating on-call roster for out of hours support. This role requires the applicant to participate in a rotating on-site roster for on-site support (8AM 4PM). Job Specific Requirements Qualifications in Information Technology, a related discipline, and / or 5 years of equivalent work experience, are highly regarded. ITIL Foundations (Desirable) The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential / Highly Protected / Secret) security clearance. Duty Statement Classification : Parliamentary Executive Level 1 Branch : Digital Customer Services Section : ESS Operations Immediate supervisor : ESS Operations, Technical Director Duty Statement Under limited / general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the specified classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following : Oversee application elements and integrations, including configuration, installation, and maintenance, following policies and procedures. Draft, interpret, analyse, and review standards for applications, activity, resource usage, backup and recovery policies and procedures. Additionally, prepare documentation to record, manage, and mitigate incidents and issues to ensure the integrity, security, backup, reliability, and performance of applications. Investigate, anticipate, prioritise, and triage known and suspected issues with applications databases and integrations. This includes collecting, monitoring, and summarising application and database activities, resource usage, backup and recovery plans, as well as other performance statistics to recommend and forecast appropriate actions. Supervise, coordinate, and oversee junior staff while identifying training needs, mentoring, and conducting performance appraisals as they support the planning, configuration, and maintenance of software applications and integrating components. Provide advice and guidance on the strategic direction, function, operation and use of database and application technologies and architectures in line with the ICT goals and objectives of the section. Offer strategic advice and guidance on the direction, functionality, operation, and utilisation of electronic security applications and their integrated components, ensuring alignment with the ICT goals and objectives of the department. Coordinate, organise, and lead the team efficiently while engaging stakeholders, communicating clearly, and collaborating to align with ICT objectives. Selection Criteria Demonstrate experience in configuring, installing, and maintaining electronic security systems such as EACS, CCTV, and Intercom systems. Demonstrate strong capability in investigating, anticipating, prioritising, and managing known and suspected issues with applications, databases, and integrations. Demonstrate experience in supervising, coordinating, and mentoring junior staff in the planning, configuration, and maintenance of software applications and integration components. Demonstrate the ability to provide strategic advice and guidance on the direction, functionality, operation, and utilisation of database and application technologies and architectures. Demonstrate effective communication skills to engage stakeholders and clearly articulate technical information to non-technical audiences. Demonstrate proficiency in following best practices to maintain the integrity, security, and reliability of electronic security applications and their integrated components.
