Mater Hospital Springfields Perioperative Department delivers care to public and private patients. Based at our Springfield campus, this role is part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare. It will support the opening of the stateoftheart Mater Hospital Springfield in early 2026, the first new public hospital in Queensland in over 60 years. Salary range: $54.45 $58.30 per hour plus superannuation, salary packaging up to $15,900, and many staff benefits. What youll be doing You will join a team of highly skilled multidisciplinary professionals, and your enthusiasm and dedication for nursing will be highly valued within a supportive and professional environment. Lead and conduct regular quality control and infection control audits. Manage documentation, including the archiving of steriliser records, Biological Indicator (BI) records, and Instructions for Use (IFU). Provide direct mentorship and clinical guidance to CSSD staff and vocational students. Monitor and assess staff competencies to complete CSSD tasks effectively. Manage daily updates and data integrity within the TDoc instrument tracking system. Liaise with Theatre Clinical Nurses (CNs) and external companies regarding loan sets. Oversee and arrange preventative maintenance and calibration for reprocessing equipment (washers, sterilisers, dryers). Ensure Performance Qualification is conducted as per standards. Assist the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) with budget monitoring and expenditure control. Manage and investigate Workplace Incidents and ensure staff compliance with WHS requirements. Assist NUM with rostering. Contribute to the review and development of CSSD policies and workplace instructions. About you Minimum of 3 years of recent experience working in a highvolume CSSD setting with demonstrated clinical leadership experience. Current Registered Nurse AHPRA registration with no restrictions. Demonstrated expert knowledge of AS/NZS 5369 (Reprocessing of reusable medical devices) and endoscopic reprocessing. Extensive experience in managing quality assurance programmes, including monitoring, recording, and archiving of critical data. Proven ability to provide effective clinical mentorship, supervision, and education to multidisciplinary CSSD staff and students. Demonstrated practical understanding of the operation, fault reporting, preventative maintenance schedules, and calibration requirements for a range of CSSD equipment. Possess relevant postgraduate qualifications or certificates in sterilisation sciences, infection control, or management. Experience in the development, review, and implementation of departmental policies, workplace instructions, and Work Health and Safety (WHS) protocols. Previous experience assisting with facility planning or capital works projects (e.g., input for a new sterilising department).
