Together we can do more. The Division of Palliative Care incorporates palliative care, end of life, bereavement counselling and volunteer services. The Aboriginal End of Life (EoL) and Palliative Care Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Aboriginal activities and initiatives within ISLHDs Division of Palliative Care. The role is responsible for ensuring culturally safe, respectful, and responsive care for Aboriginal patients, families, and communities accessing end of life and palliative care services across hospital and community settings. Working in close partnership with Aboriginal organisations, Elders, and service providers, the position aims to improve access, equity, and cultural integrity in service delivery. This role acts as a cultural conduit between Aboriginal communities, families, and the ISLHD Division of Palliative Care, offering expert advice to senior managers, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams on cultural requirements, protocols, and best practice approaches in both clinical and nonclinical contexts. Responsibilities include developing and embedding culturally appropriate referral pathways, supporting implementation of Sorry Business/Sad News and Cultural Protocols guidelines, providing advocacy, and fostering collaborative partnerships across ISLHD. The Aboriginal EoL and Palliative Care Manager will also contribute to strategic planning, service development, and evaluation, while offering direct cultural guidance and support in patient care planning and review to ensure that care is aligned with the needs, traditions, and values of Aboriginal people.
