THIS POSITION IS BASED IN WOODVALE APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT MIDDAY ON FRIDAY, 12 DECEMBER Job Description Applied research undertaken by the Animal Science Program seeks to understand the factors and processes that are critical for the conservation of Western Australia''s rich and unique native fauna. We are currently seeking a Research / Senior Research Scientist (Dirk Hartog Island Ecological Restoration Project) to join our team. This position plans, coordinates and implements research on the fauna reconstruction element of the Dirk Hartog Island National Park Ecological Restoration Project (DHINPERP), including the collection, management and analysis of complex data, preparation of manuscripts for publication and reporting on progress. It liaises with other researchers, the DHINPERP Project Manager and Mid-West Regional and Gascoyne District staff, and provides expert advice on research outcomes to relevant internal and external stakeholders. Selection Criteria Considerable (SC2) or substantial (SC3) experience in designing, planning and implementing research into wildlife ecology to inform fauna conservation management, such as conservation translocations. Well developed (SC2) or exceptional (SC3) skills in experimental design and complex data analyses to assess spatial and temporal changes in population trajectories. Proven (SC2) or high-level (SC3) ability to publish complex research findings in a range of formats in a timely manner, including peer-reviewed journal articles. Relevant (SC2) or extensive (SC3) experience in leading research teams undertaking field-based ecological research. Demonstrated (SC2) or high level (SC3) ability to effectively translate research to inform conservation management.
