The suitably qualified applicant will fill the permanent full-time Museum Collection Officer role.The Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum, locally known as the GeoCentre, is repositioning itself for 21st Century service delivery. The Museum team plays a pivotal role in ensuring Council is a leading partner with our community to achieve our citys vision of being a living museum and promotes its unique heritage listing.We are seeking suitable applicants with strong collection care expertise to ensure the Broken Hill City Councils GeoCentre collection is managed to the highest museum standards. The role is responsible for the preservation, documentation, cataloguing and ongoing stewardship of the collection in line with recognised museum best practices. Including preventative conservation, accurate collection recording and ethical collection management. The position will also support science communication by fostering public understanding of Broken Hills geological, mineralogical, mining, and metallurgical histories. directly to the Gallery & Museum Manager, you will ensure the collections of the Albert Kersten Mining & Minerals Museum are easily accessible through best practice collection management.
