School Learning Officer (Wellbeing) - Holy Cross School, Trinity Park Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns Nonteaching positions, Smithfield QLD. Employment Type: Term Time, Fixed Term until 22 January 2027, 29.6 hrs per week Salary Range: SOF Level 3 $34.17 to $35.62 gross per hour Closing Date for Applications: Midday, Friday 19th December 2025; Interviews to be held in January 2026. Specialist staff (Teacher Librarian, HPE Teacher, MusicDance and Drama Teacher, STEM Teacher, Enrichment Teacher, Indigenous Liaison Officer, Accredited Dyslexia Teacher and three Inclusion Support Teachers) provide multiple opportunities so that every student finds their spark before Year6, preparing them for success in high school and beyond. About the Role The purpose of the School Learning Officer role is to maximize educational outcomes for students by providing assistance to teachers to meet students learning goals. This may involve supporting teachers in delivering learning programs in small group or 1:1 settings. Key Responsibilities Provide assistance to teachers to support student learning aligned with personalised learning plans (PLP) and highly individualized programs (HIP), including implementing specific support, learning and intervention programmes. Collaborate with teachers and staff from multiple departments, participating in care team meetings, PLP and HIP meetings, and safety meetings. Provide support and supervision to students requiring substantial and extensive adjustments inside and outside the classroom to enable participation in school activities, sporting events, school functions, field trips and excursions. Assist teachers in implementing external schoolbased activities such as concerts and sporting events. Support students participating in extracurricular activities. Assist students (individually or in groups) who require substantial or extensive adjustments with specific learning needs, including writing and reading, and provide feedback and observations to classroom teachers. Implement individualized strategies and modifications as per their PLP and/or HIP. Assist with the screening and assessment of students. Keep accurate records of student work and progress, and communicate with teachers and relevant staff to ensure effective flow of information regarding student learning progress and wellbeing, including frequent monitoring and review of PLP adjustments and SMART goals. Support student engagement by reinforcing appropriate student behaviour, school expectations, individualized behaviour support plans and safety plans. Provide practical assistance to students in using classroom resources such as technology and specialised equipment. Perform administrative tasks of record maintenance, produce individualized resources (printing, laminating, etc.), and provide other administrative support. liaise with teachers and parents/carers regarding specific matters such as regulation, individualized SMART goals, toileting, eating, medication, etc. Assist in maintaining a clean and tidy classroom and other learning environments. Assist in setting up appropriate classroom and other learning environments, adhering to specific safety standards and adjustments. Assist in maintaining personalised equipment and resources, ensuring that they are functioning and hygienic, including hearing equipment, toileting equipment, mobility equipment and learning resources. Provide routine support to students in relation to their physical needs (e.g., mobility support), personal care needs (e.g., toileting and feeding), emotional needs, and medical needs (e.g., administering medication). Ensure student safety in accordance with policy, procedures, risk assessment and implementation of personalized safety plans. Undertake student supervision for playground duty, supporting students who require substantial and extensive adjustments. Sourcing, collating and recording/documenting materials and resources required to support learning activities, including stock control. Complete relevant training in the use of learning programmes, medical management, disabilityspecific training, HIES and PBS strategies. Perform other duties as directed by the Principal or delegate.
