This is a fulltime, onsite position based in Ballarat, Victoria.About the RoleAs Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and services required for our production activities. You will work closely with Production, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely, costeffective procurement that supports smooth workflows and accurate cost control.This is a handson role where attention to detail, followthrough, and clear communication are essential.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor stock levels and production schedules to prevent shortages or excess inventorySource and purchase materials, components, and consumables to meet production needs and Brimarcos quality standardsObtain and evaluate competitive quotes based on price, quality, and lead timeCommunicate effectively with suppliers to ensure timely supply, costreduction opportunities, and strong relationship managementSource new suppliers or alternatives as needed, and assist with supplier evaluation and continuous improvementProcess purchase orders, billing, and documentation accurately and efficientlyTrack deliveries, follow up on overdue or urgent orders, and assist with receiving and verifying deliveries for accuracyMaintain accurate purchasing records, pricing, and supplier data within the ERP systemAssist with inventory systems and records, including accurate moving average costs and regular stocktakesMonitor procurement costs and identify opportunities for savings without compromising qualitySupport resolution of supplier quality or delivery issuesSupport improvements to purchasing workflows that enhance efficiency and reduce wasteAbout YouDemonstrated experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related function within a commercial or industrial environmentStrong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work in a dynamic production environmentConfident and clear communicator, capable of building effective working relationships with suppliers and internal teamsProficiency in MS Office and experience with ERP, inventory, or financial systemsStrong analytical and numerical skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy in documentationDemonstrated ethical conduct, professionalism, and ability to manage confidential or sensitive informationAbility to interpret basic technical drawings or specifications (or willingness to learn)Beneficial ExperienceBackground in manufacturing, automotive, fabrication, warehousing, or similar industriesUnderstanding of lead times, BOMs (Bills of Materials), engineered components, or production workflowsFamiliarity with supplier performance monitoring, cost analysis, or continuous improvement in a purchasing environmentFormal qualifications in business, logistics, or supply chain are welcome but not essentialWhat We OfferA stable, longstanding Australian manufacturer with over 45 years of successA collaborative, supportive team environment where your contribution is valued and recognisedThe opportunity to contribute to meaningful, highquality engineered productsCompetitive salary and genuine opportunities for skill development and career progressionWe aim to begin interviewing in early January for a midlate January commencement, with some flexibility for the right candidate.
