About the Roles Our clients are seeking Expressions of Interest for Field Surveillance Officers to join their Eradication programs with roles on offer based out of South Johnstone, Queensland. Roles are required year-round until 2028-2029 with the possibility of extension. Work over the wet season is required. Working hours are Monday to Friday with start times from 6am. Hours may vary, dependant on weather conditions. The role will require you to undertake specialised field surveillance and treatment to eradicate harmful species from the Australian environment. Residents local to Innisfail/South Johnstone areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Safely use a machete in rainforest environments to undertake surveillance and treatment activities. Majority of surveillance and treatment activities are conducted in terrain defined as challenging slopes, steep gradients, dense vegetation. Carry sufficient operational equipment, food and water for an entire day. Be exposed to tropical weather conditions, as well as a range of dangerous flora and fauna. Walk considerable distances every day, including elevation in rainforest habitat e.g. continuous walking for up to 60 minutes and up to approximately 15 kilometres a day. Work effectively in teams of outdoor workers in challenging environments. Include working within a team environment to deliver surveillance, and can include field evacuations due to first aid treatment events. Field based surveillance, mapping and treatment activities for the eradication of harmful species. Collect GPS data, record and correlate other information according to the requirements of the project. Sample collection and reporting. Communicate effectively with landholders, program managers, staff and stakeholders. Operate and maintain a variety of field equipment such as spray units, chainsaws, GPS and other navigational equipment. Eligibility Requirements Experience in intensive outdoor labouring, including residential, bushland & rainforest field work. Must have the ability to work through varied and challenging environmental conditions for long periods of time. WHS Focus Ability to recognise, manage and follow workplace health and safety directions. Must have a current valid open manual C (car) class QLD drivers'' licence. Must be willing and able to pass Drug and Alcohol test and Physical Functional Assessment. Must be willing and able to obtain a National Police Check.
