ABOUT THE ROLE Were seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join our Legal team during an exciting period of growth, giving you the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects. Youll play a pivotal role in protecting BAIs commercial interests and helping us to navigate complex legal challenges. This is a generalist inhouse role in a small but very effective legal team, and will give the successful candidate exposure to commercial, construction, corporate, property, financing, regulatory and litigious matters. We dont expect anyone to have experience across all of these areas, but exposure in the telecommunications or construction sectors will be very highly regarded. Even more important will be your demonstrated commitment to applying both your legal skills and your pragmatic business judgment to help the team and the business succeed, and a desire for learning and growth. Key Responsibilities Support the bid and sales teams to evaluate and respond to RFPs and win new business; Draft, review, advise on and negotiate customer contracts, including for the provision of design and construction services, telecommunications services, broadcast transmission services, operation and maintenance services and licences for colocation at BAI sites, with customers including TV and radio broadcasters, government entities, mobile network operators and infrastructure operators; Advise on frontend (contractual) and backend (implementation/dispute) construction law issues; Draft, review, advise on and negotiate supplier, finance and property contracts; Provide regulatory advice on legislation relevant to BAI including the Telecommunications Act and carrier licence conditions, Radiocommunications Act, Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and Competition and Consumer Act; Draft or input into regulatory and policy submissions relevant to BAIs interests; Assist the Company to meet emerging corporate governance expectations including on Modern Slavery, Anticorruption and ESG requirements; Assist the General Counsel in their role as Company Secretary to advise on Corporations Act compliance, lending covenants and related governance issues; Advise across the business, namely Sales, People and Culture, Property, HSE. ABOUT YOU Experience in construction, telecommunications or technology contracts is required, with experience in government procurement and projects highly regarded; Experience with telco regulatory issues (including SOCI) will be highly desirable; Inhouse experience (including on secondment) will be very well regarded; Exposure to property and corporate legal work highly regarded; You will be confident in contract drafting and negotiation; 7+ years relevant experience in a reputable law firm or inhouse team; Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Law; Holder of a current practising certificate or eligible to obtain one; Experience as a solicitor commensurate with the requirements of the role.
