The University of New England (UNE) is seeking an outstanding leader to join their Estate and Built Environment Directorate as Director, Capital Development. This is a newly created senior role and will be responsible for shaping UNEs longterm vision for its built environment and ensuring that UNE campuses provide exceptional spaces for learning, research, and community engagement. Based in Armidale and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director will provide strategic leadership across all capital development activities, including delivery of the Capital Works Program, UNE Property Strategy, and Campus Development Strategy, while driving innovation in asset and infrastructure management. About the role Lead the planning, delivery, and governance of major capital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Provide highlevel advice to the Chief Operating Officer and University Executive on capital investment priorities, campus planning, and strategic asset management. Oversee the development and implementation of the Strategic Asset Management Plan and ensure efficient lifecycle management of University assets. Lead and inspire a highperforming team of senior managers and project professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation. Work in close partnership with the Director, Infrastructure Services to ensure an integrated, futurefocused approach to UNEs built environment. Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and industry, and represent UNE in key infrastructure forums. About you You are an accomplished leader with extensive experience managing complex capital works programs and infrastructure portfolios in large organisations. You bring strategic vision, commercial acumen, and a proven ability to deliver transformative infrastructure outcomes that align with institutional goals. You will have a proven track record of successfully delivering major capital works projects valued between $5million and $50million and of leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve strategic outcomes. Strong skills in strategic planning, procurement, contract management, and financial oversight are essential, as is the ability to communicate with influence, foster collaboration, and lead effectively through change. Experience within the higher education or public sector, together with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation in the built environment, will be highly regarded. You will also hold postgraduate qualifications in project management, construction, engineering, or a related field, or possess an equivalent combination of relevant experience.
