Technical Officer Salary: $79,122 - $96,073 (Plus Superannuation) Fixed term role: 24 months Usual hours of work: Full time Usual work location: Snobs Creek, Eildon (flexibility may be available) The Role The position will sit within the Hatcheries team and will report directly to the Stocking and Site Coordinator, Snobs Creek. This position is part of both the native fish and salmonid hatcheries, the stocking program and will work closely with other areas of Victorian Fisheries Authority to achieve broader results. Main accountabilities Lead a range of fish production tasks such as stocking fish, stakeholder engagement and fish husbandry tasks to ensure the reliable production of native and salmonid fish species. Assist in delivering annual fish production and stocking objectives; including leading regular fish stocking trips across the state, overnight travel and the operation of large vehicles and equipment. Attend public events (within and outside of work hours) to engage with stakeholders regarding the VFA. The Team The position of Technical Officer forms a part of the Victorian Fisheries Authority. About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: Sector Experience: Demonstrated expertise and/or experience of working within the agriculture or aquaculture sector. Knowledge of the day to day running of a fish farm or other farm. Understand logistical processes and challenges for transporting and stocking live fish into public waters. Technical Skills: Experience in data analytics; Detail focused and identifies gaps in information; Looks for logical sequences of information and can accurately present data to staff, stakeholders, and management. Communication Skills: Well-developed written and verbal communication to convey ideas and information in a concise format; Understands the target audience and the objectives of the communication. A minimum of a Medium Rigid (MR) licence is highly desirable (or a willingness to obtain one).
