What You Need To Know Permanent full time - 70 hours per fortnight Package: $104,669 to $124,820 plus superannuation per annum Flexible workplace location, Grafton or Maclean, NSW Flexible work options plus flex time Access to low-cost leaseback vehicle RAV4 Hybrid Up to $4,000 relocation cost reimbursement About The Role The primary purpose of this role is to lead and inspire the Building Services team in delivering high-quality, customer-focused building assessment, certification, and compliance services that ensure safe, sustainable and compliant development across the community. The role drives continual improvement in systems and practices, provides expert guidance on complex building and legislative matters, and acts as a key link between the team, senior management, industry stakeholders and NSW Fair Trading regarding building certification matters. Through strong leadership, professional expertise and a commitment to service excellence, the role ensures Council meets its statutory responsibilities while fostering a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying or a related discipline, supported by extensive experience in building assessment, certification, and compliance. Comprehensive knowledge of the National Construction Code, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Local Government Act 1993, and associated regulations, policies, and standards. Demonstrated capability in assessing Development Applications, Complying Development Certificates, Construction Certificate and related applications. Strong leadership experience, with the ability to guide, develop and motivate a professional team while managing workloads, budgets, and competing priorities. High-level communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, enabling you to provide clear technical advice and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
