Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff. About the Properties & Facilities Team: These teams are responsible for the operational effectiveness of buildings, plant and equipment, physical security and appropriate receipting and management of goods. Role Purpose / Responsibilities: This newly developed role will ensure the effective delivery of a diverse array of projects; including infrastructure, facility upgrades and refurbishment, service delivery and business systems. The key responsibilities are to: Manage multiple projects through the full project life-cycle, ensuring that project methodologies, standards and processes are adhered to, and that project outcomes are delivered within agreed timeframes, scope and budget; Plan and coordinate projects to ensure project delivery and outcomes are responsive to the institute and researcher needs; Manage stakeholder and business owner involvement, ensuring appropriate change management and communication; Identify and engage the necessary internal and external expertise to deliver project requirements; Manage project issues and risks in a timely manner and escalate as appropriate; and Write clear and concise specifications and reports, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences. About you: The right candidate will have: Tertiary qualification or extensive experience in project management Demonstrated leadership skills including the management of small teams. Extensive experience in the delivery of a portfolio of diverse projects using project management frameworks, ideally in a medical research or higher education context Excellent verbal and written communication skills Substantial skills in building effective relationships and responding effectively to stakeholders, staff, researchers, senior management, external experts, suppliers and regulators; including experience in negotiating directly with stakeholders to determine needs and resolve differences Self-motivated and highly organised; able to meet deadlines and deliver multiple competing projects in a complex and challenging environment It would be highly regarded to have: Experience working on projects involving scientific equipment and/or research laboratories Experience working on construction or facilities projects Knowledge of risk and regulatory factors impacting scientific operations in a medical research institute, such as OGTR, WH&S, or Australian Quarantine. Project Management Institute (PMI) or Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) certification or experience with PRINCE2, PEMBOK, Six Sigma or Agile methodologies Remuneration: Salary range is $122,262 to $130,923 p.a. plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years.
