Our client is a leading national law firm with a highly respected Employment & Safety Team that is widely recognised as one of the premier employment practices in Australia. The Role This is a growth role to find a senior associate/special counsel to assist with the further growth of their practice. You will work closely with 3 Sydney based partners, however, have access to partners across the firm affording you the opportunity to grow your own practice.This team advise on some of Australia''s largest and most prominent employers, multi-national corporates and state and federal government departments. The work is incredibly broad and will see you: Conduct internal workplace investigations (bullying, harassment, discrimination, general protections, misconduct), including planning, gathering evidence, interviewing, drafting reports, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.Provide regulatory advice and assist clients in responding to investigations or enforcement actions by bodies such as WorkSafe, Fair Work Ombudsman, Comcare etc.Advise on employee terminations, performance management, senior executive issues, restraint of trade, confidentiality obligations, and other employment contract disputes.Draft policies, workplace procedures, employment contracts and standardised documentation (e.g. codes of conduct, confidentiality / noncompete / whistleblower policies).Assist with governance related advice: directors obligations under workplace health & safety laws, workplace safety due diligence, regulatory risk management.Support dispute resolution (including informal resolution, tribunal / commission proceedings) as required under Stephens supervision.Maintain high client responsiveness and quality control, review outputs of more junior team members, ensure accuracy and consistency of advice.Contribute to preventative workplace law strategies: training, client briefings, risk audits. About You The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years PQE from a leading employment law team with: Significant experience across both advisory and litigious workplace matters;Strong track record in conducting workplace investigations and handling regulatory enquiries and proceedings;Deep knowledge of Australian employment law, workplace health & safety obligations, regulatory frameworks;Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously under tight deadlines, with strong organisational skills.Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.Comfortable both with handson investigative work and providing strategic, riskbased advice.Skilled in liaising with clients across public and private sectors, senior executives, boards, HR, compliance teams.
