Altona location, close to public transport Permanent, Full Time Position Salary: Band 8 $123,558.69 to $138,163.90 The opportunity This is an exciting leadership role for someone passionate about bringing people together through events and cultural spaces. As Coordinator Events and Venues, youll shape the strategic vision and day-to-day operations that make Hobsons Bay a vibrant hub for community connection and celebration. From managing iconic venues like Altona Theatre and Williamstown Town Hall to creating opportunities for partnerships and programming, youll play a key part in showcasing the city and delivering memorable experiences. Its a chance to combine creativity, strategy, and collaboration in a role that truly makes a difference to the life of the community. What youll be doing Leading the strategic framework for events and venues, ensuring alignment with Councils goals and community needs. Managing operations and approvals for public events, filming, markets, and the use of Council land and cultural venues. Overseeing venue operations for key sites like Altona Theatre, Old Laverton School, and Williamstown Town Hall, ensuring safety and quality standards. Building partnerships and business opportunities to attract programming, investment, and community engagement that benefits the city. Developing and leading a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across events and venue services. What youll need to succeed Relevant tertiary qualification in event or venue management, business development, or a related discipline. Extensive experience in event and venue operations, including planning, implementation, and managing public/civic spaces. Strong leadership and people management skills, with proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams. Expert knowledge of regulatory, risk, and compliance frameworks as they apply to events and venues, plus budgeting and financial management skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities, with a collaborative approach and strategic problem-solving capability.
