Job Title

To assist clients to participate in community life and to feel socially included and to maintain and support their independence and social interactions with others. Have read, understand and agree to follow the STAR Social Practice Guide. Meeting and greeting clients at designated venues or at their door as directed. Ensure all registered attendees are present or accounted for. Provide clients with an overview of each activity and handle enquiries, by providing information or passing enquiries onto the team leader. Assist with ushering clients to and from venues, ensuring the seating arrangements in venue are appropriate, assist clients to place orders (for morning tea, beverages and lunch orders). Encourage social interactions via ice breakers and social activities Facilitate introductions between clients and ensure clients are comfortable and are able to participate in and enjoy the activity. Report any risk/s or incidents associated with activities immediately to CHSP Team Leader. Be actively involved in all STAR Social activities and be willing to be included in the roster of hosts. Other duties as agreed by both parties Category Community Services Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Type Of Work Companionship & Social Support, Time Required A minimum of 4-5 hours one day a week with a minimum commitment of 3-6 months requested. The rostering of hours and days will be negotiated to meet the availability of to the volunteer and the needs of the services. STAR is committed to the National Standards for Involving Volunteers.
