OverviewData Center Technical Operations Engineer at Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain. We are looking for talented people who want to help.ResponsibilitiesParticipate in a 24/7 rotating shift patternSupport management of routine maintenance and emergency service of critical systems (switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, fire systems, etc.)Install new rack capacity and provision power/coolingOn-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring work complies with practices, procedures, and local legislationEstablish performance benchmarks, analyze data, and document all aspects of critical facility operations and maintenance; manage facility assetsGenerate change management requests and incident tickets for facility events; assist in resolution of infrastructure issuesCollaborate with data center IT managers and business leaders to coordinate day-to-day operations, projects, capacity, safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiencyDrive and implement projects to increase facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability; assist in design, commissioning, and build-out of new data center facilitiesDay-to-day activitiesWork schedule changes based on site needs; shifts are 12 hours and rotate on a predefined scheduleTroubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAsPerform rack installations and decommissioning; manage facility operationsProvide operational readings and KPIs to maintain uptimeOn-site management of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors; ensure compliance with practices and local legislationOversee maintenance and operations of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment in the data centerQualificationsBasic: High school or equivalent diploma2+ years of electrical or mechanical experiencePreferred: 2+ years of data center engineering experienceTeam and cultureDiverse experiences are valued.
