About your new role: This newly created senior leadership role sits within Brighter Supers Commercial division and reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer. As the Head of Commercial Risk & Compliance (Line 1), you will lead the uplift of operational risk and compliance practices across Product, Marketing, Digital, and Retirement, strengthening risk governance at a pivotal time for the fund. You will act as the dedicated Line 1 risk leader for the Commercial division, shaping risk culture, embedding practical frameworks, and ensuring risk is appropriately considered in commercial decisionmaking. Working closely with Line 2 partners, you will provide strategic guidance and handson support to senior leaders, contributing directly to stronger member outcomes, improved product governance, and greater operational discipline. This role can be based in either Brisbane or Sydney. In this role, you will: Embed effective firstline risk practices across the Commercial division and uplift riskaware decisionmaking. Provide pragmatic risk advice, training, incident support, and control testing. Partner with leaders to define risks, controls, and action plans aligned to the Risk Management Framework. Support product governance, marketing and communication compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements. Advise on change initiatives and projects to ensure risks are identified and managed appropriately. Assist with incident management and escalations, driving learningbased outcomes. Monitor assurance activities and collaborate with Line 2 to mature Commercials risk capability. Champion a strong risk culture and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. About you: Youre an experienced operational risk professional with a background in superannuation or financial services and a proven track record in Line 1 risk management. You understand regulatory obligations and can translate them into practical, commercial guidance that supports product, marketing, and retirement functions. You bring: Experience in operational risk within Line 1, ideally within superannuation or financial services. Knowledge of product governance, member communications, and commercial operations. A history of partnering with senior leaders and executives, with the presence and confidence to influence decisionmaking and challenge assumptions. Strong understanding of APRA and SIS requirements, RSE obligations, and relevant prudential standards. Practical, handson experience in risk assessments, incident management, control testing, and governance processes.
