RIZZANI DE ECCHER CIVIL ENGINEER (ADELAIDE) POSITION DESCRIPTION Overview of position: Rizzani de Eccher Australia Pty Ltd (a fully owned subsidiary of Rizzani de Eccher S.p.A., one of the major Italian Civil Engineering Contractor, also owner of DEAL S.r.l. and Tensacciai S.r.l., two world leader companies in the fields engineering/equipment and post-tensioning/bearings respectively) is successfully establishing a long-term technical office based in Adelaide (Australia), in order to support the ongoing projects and at the same time continue to develop the existing and future pipeline of projects in the field of specialized and complex civil engineering works specifically for bridges, viaducts and tunnels. Currently, part of the technical expertise and specialized know-how of the company is retained by staff already located in Australia, although for the majority of the specific design and engineering details the reliance is mainly based on the technical offices located in the Rizzani de Eccher S.p.A., and the sister companies DEAL S.r.l. and Tensa S.r.l. headquarters in Italy. However, given the substantial amount of works on the local market, it has become evident that the Australian branch will require to maintain some additional specific civil engineering skillset to ensure not only a successful coordination between the companys technical offices and the local branch, but also to autonomously develop solutions and concept designs to facilitate tender preparations and site project development or assistance. We have identified this skillset under the role of a specialized Civil Engineer in the area of complex civil engineering projects, whose duties align substantially with the ANZSCO Classification for Civil Engineer (233211) as described below. Duties : Develop, in coordination with local Operations Manager and remote Technical Office in Italy, the preliminary solutions for new tenders and opportunities where the specific skillset of Rizzani de Eccher Australia, DEAL or Tensa may be required. Those include: structural concept designs and initial sizing of elements, construction methodologies and temporary load cases, installation sequences, lifting plans, and associated program and cost estimates Monitor or (as needed) help with the development of the concept designs up to the tender and (if required) execution phase, and prepare a complete package that can be used for pricing, procurement, verifications and, in general, overall planning and execution Assist local Office Coordinator(s) and Purchase Department(s) overseas for the preparation of 2D drawings, 3D models, Scope of Works, Bill of Quantities, RFQs and any technical supporting documentation that can help in obtaining quotations, build-up the pricing estimate and (eventually) control the budget against the actual costs Assist technical offices (both local and/or overseas) and the site supervisors / technicians with preparation of drawings, manuals, procedures or SWMS, PowerPoint presentation and preliminary construction program (Excel / MS Project) to ease the implementation of the works on site and the communications with (and between) external parties, including consultants, temporary works designers and 3rd party verifiers Attend site visits and perform site audits / inspections as needed to coordinate the works, provide technical and/or logistical support, monitor progress Analyze all of the above data together with the local Construction Manager to determine any possible required follow-up actions with the local site works, local team (via supervisors or office coordinators), or with additional engineering development by the specialized Italian technical department Essential skills : Understanding of design and civil engineering processes, including exposure to tender process and cost-planning, and also site or design experience if possible Good communication skills, to ensure ability to collect information and ensure that both design and construction requirements are included in a compliant way in the required documentation to be produced from the technical department Analyze documentation from tender packages for specific high-engineering content civil projects, and determine the best construction methodologies to be used in coordination with Construction Manager, including review of those tender design documents to determine Quantities, QA and Scope requirements, and extract information related to accesses, logistics and work methods Ability to coordinate with Rizzani de Eccher, DEAL and Tensa headquarters and technical departments independently and autonomously (hence very often in Italian), to allow a full understanding of the local requirements and the initial sketches (prepared autonomously), in order to coordinate efficiently the interaction between the parties while working on a tender or a project, as applicable, including preparation of stage drawings to reflect the most valuable approach to the installation of the complex engineering parts of the projects (generally precast elements and bridge components) Preliminary size ad-hoc temporary structures required for the installation of the permanent works as required, and liaise with designers to complete the engineering assessment Understanding and ability to navigate design drawings, operational manuals, method statements and technical specifications / guidelines / codes of practice for the purpose of assisting engineers and supervisors with the understanding and planning of the works Ability to use Word and Excel proficiently to prepare, analyze and monitor BOQs, site progress, design development processes and cost-tracking, including obtaining prices from the local market and from DEAL and Tensa, as applicable Ability to use FEA software to develop concept designs and assign initial sizing and weights to the required elements (mainly steel, reinforced concrete and post-tensioning structures) Deep understanding and knowledge of AutoCAD (2D as a minimum), for site stages, lifting plans, methodologies and temporary works, associated with general knowledge of 3D modelling/visualization and Doc Control systems Based in the main local office in Adelaide, but with ability to move easily within Australia and New Zealand for site works coordination Employment experience: Degree and (preferred) Post-Degree courses in Civil Engineering 1 to 3 years, with preference for Italian and Australian experience in civil engineering fields (bridges, tunnels and post-tensioning preferred), with possibly some exposure in procurement, tendering and pricing, and ideally also some site construction and/or design/engineering works Italian and English language proficiency
