The Opportunity In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Legal, providing commercially relevant legal advice to the business across a broad range of issues, with a strong focus on contractual and compliance matters and legal support on tenders for new opportunities across a broad range of procurement models (including PPP and collaborative contract models). You will contribute to navigating the complexities of projects and have a tangible impact on the success of the business, by supporting legal and regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, managing delivery claims and disputes. Key aspects of this role include Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of project, tender and contract documentation and other commercial agreements. Legal Advice: Provide advice on a wide range of legal issues, including frontend construction matters, backend issues (defects, delays, and payments) and other corporate, property, employment law and regulatory matters. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage legal and commercial risks, including advising on regulatory and compliance matters and insurance. Dispute Resolution and claims management: Supporting project teams in claims administration and management, prepare and manage disputes and support alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes. Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research on a wide range of issues and present practical and commercially astute legal solutions to business stakeholders. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, experts, and internal teams, participate in client meetings, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to build strong working relationships. Training & Business Development: Together with the Head of Legal, prepare and deliver legal updates and training to other parts of the business. Key role requirements Completion of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (or equivalent). Legal practising certificate (or the ability to obtain one) in Queensland, NSW or Victoria. 25 years of technical legal experience either from private practice, government or inhouse working on construction and infrastructure projects. The ability to provide commercially astute, pragmatic and concise advice. The ability to manage a range of tasks, prioritise effectively and work autonomously where necessary, ensuring that legal matters are handled in a timely and effective manner.
