At AIM, you will be an integral part in the Engineering and R&D team to develop leadingedge products and systems for use in tomorrow''s defence technology. We are looking for candidates who are flexible and available to work outside of ordinary hours based on business needs at our Melbourne facility.What You Will DoTake ownership of laser beam director and imaging subsystemsDesign and prototype high performance optical systems for kW level laser beam propagation and trackingSpecify and evaluate imaging lenses within the visible, infrared and thermal wavelength rangesTest and evaluate optical components and lenses for diffractionlimited performanceWork with suppliers to manufacture custom optical elements, lenses and coatingsWork with inhouse prototype and manufacturing team to design housings and optical assembliesInterface with hardware and software teams to define and support optical imaging and tracking systems; provide technical support and mentoringAssist in preparing work estimates and project schedulesWork as part of a multidisciplinary fastpaced development teamProvide leadership to other team membersWork closely with managers, engineers and technicians to produce a wide variety of componentsWhat You Will BringKnowledge and handson experience with freespace Gaussian beam propagationExperience designing, testing and assembling optical systemsExperience with optical CAD (Zemax, CodeV, LightTools, etc.)Exceptional timemanagement skills to prioritise workloads and shift focus as requiredExperience performing detailed analysis necessary to make datadriven decisionsAbility to work crossfunctionally to develop new solutionsAbility to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlinesWork efficiently and productively in independent and team settingsExemplary verbal and written communication skillsStrong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detailAbility to acquire a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security ClearanceAs a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
