OverviewArdinglyCourt GP Surgery is seeking a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment and has a love of patient care.The candidate is required to have prior experience of working in a GP practice in a HCA role in order to hit the ground running. (We do not wish to train a HCA who has not worked in GP surgery before).Main duties of the jobOther elements you will be expected to deliver: blood pressure checks, NHS health checks, urinalysis, learning disability checks, restocking of rooms, diabetes foot assessments (training available), ECG measurement, B12 injections, assisting with infection control processes and audits.The post is 5 - 7.5 hours per week on a Monday. Timings can be flexible; ideally would start at 8:30/9:00 (although hours could be adapted if still meets surgery needs).Pay scale dependent on experience but in the range of 12.21 - 14.00 per hour.To qualify for the top of the pay scale the candidate would need to have previous experience in a GP HCA role and already be carrying out most of the job description on starting.About usWe are a close knit team of approximately 21 staff (5 GPs, 2 nurses, 2 HCAs) and a number of administrative support staff. We seek to provide a high level of GP health services & serve approximately 6,500 patients. Centrally located in Kemptown we are walking distance from Brighton train station and the St James Street bus stop.Job responsibilitiesTo assist the medical personnel with the care of patients. This will include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. The post will also include some administrative duties.As part of the nursing team the HCA will be employed to undertake nursing and administrative duties as deemed suitable by the Partners. Full training will be given prior to any patient contact. The HCA will always work alongside another member of the nursing team and there will always be a doctor available to refer to.
