Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier1 WafiGolpu coppergold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the highgrade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year. Position Description Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Drill & Blast Engineer is responsible for ensuring the effective completion of all drill and blast plans consistent with shortterm mine planning activities for daytoday pit operations. The role includes scheduling, reconciliation, reporting, conducting meetings and supervising graduate and Drill & Blast Engineers. Location and Roster Hidden Valley Mine, Papua New Guinea Roster: 16 days on / 12 days off (FIFO) Responsibilities Develop and ensure the continuous improvement of safety best practice in line with MCGL Safety Policy and Systems. Ensure all activities are in compliance with MCGL''s Environmental Policies and Procedures. Ensure drill and blast designs, tieups and charge plans are completed consistently and in a timely manner. Provide a 2weekly drill and blast schedule for all production rigs and present the schedule and blasting plan at weekly mine planning meetings. Maintain D&B tools and equipment (cameras, blast vibration monitor, other consumables). Develop at least three blast masters for each pit stage, integrating inputs from Geology, Geotech, Operations and Mine Planning. Provide EOM D&B Physicals report promptly and without discrepancies. Ensure postblast inspections are completed after every shot. Participate in the QA/QC process. Track explosive consumption by collecting and filing shotfirer returns. Mentor and develop graduate engineers during their D&B rotation. Lead subordinates to deliver desired results for the department and the overall mine plan. Participate safely in incident investigations and ICAMS when required. Identify D&B risks and propose mitigation action plans. Review and develop Safe Working Procedures (SWPs), standards and templates, ensuring they remain relevant. Maintain a robust process for D&B tracking and reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in mining. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite and mining software (Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight, AutoCAD). Strong leadership, communication and problemsolving skills.
