Youll work closely with Traditional Owners, PBCs, and native title parties to uphold their rights and build longterm capacity.Key responsibilities include:Providing advice on native title claims, compensation, and land use agreementsRepresenting clients in the Federal Court and National Native Title TribunalAdvising on cultural heritage and corporate governanceFacilitating meetings with clients, directors, and claim groupsMentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team developmentEnsuring compliance with the Native Title Act, Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth), and relevant lawsCollaborating with interdisciplinary teams across heritage and future actsAbout YouTo be considered, youll need to be admitted (or immediately eligible for admission) as a barrister or solicitor in the Supreme Court of WA and the High Court of Australia. A minimum of five years'' legal experience is highly regarded.The ideal candidate will have:Experience in native title, cultural heritage, or environmental lawLitigation experience in the Federal CourtLegal advisory work in governance, land use, or miningExperience with Indigenous corporations or PBC governanceCultural competency and community engagement capabilityExperience mentoring junior legal professionalsA strong commitment to Aboriginal justice and equityAbout Kimberley Land CouncilJoin the Kimberley Land Council (KLC), a peak Indigenous organisation committed to empowering Kimberley Aboriginal people.
