Primary Objective Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area. Context Statement This position coordinates and provides best practice clinical midwifery and women''s health support to the Central Australian and Barkly Region Specialist Outreach, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services. Applicants must have experience driving a manual vehicle, be eligible to obtain an NT drivers licence, travel via 4WD or light aircraft to remote communities across Central Australia, and be prepared to stay up to a week as required. Key Duties and Responsibilities Apply specialist knowledge, skills, attributes and abilities within a defined practice area in therapeutic and professional relationships with individuals, as well as with families, groups and communities. Be recognised by the team for expertise, serve as a resource for others, and engage in agreed independent practice under the supervision and management of the team. Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of comprehensive client care and/or case management within the specialty area. Selection Criteria Essential Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area. Demonstrated highly-developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy, supporting well-developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes. Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team. Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters requiring tact and diplomacy. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for clients and families.
