The outlook of a successful volunteer needs to be non-judgmental and accepting of diversity in gender preferences, lifestyles, culture, religious views and disability. Initial orientation to the aged care environment or home, ongoing training and support is provided. Be matched as a oneonone basis with a resident with similar interests, or a small group of 23 residents, visit at least fortnightly, provide a link with the community, share interests and hobbies and show a genuine interest in the person.
