About the role The role involves working with health services and partners to develop and implement best practice guidelines, decision support tools, and care pathways aimed at better patient outcomes. Youll be involved in statewide initiatives, contribute to standardising care, and participate in relevant working groups and meetings. This position offers the chance to support systemwide improvements by shaping policies, developing resources, and fostering partnerships that promote early detection and prevention of diabetes. You will work across teams to help implement practical care strategies and support consistent management across services. The ideal candidate has significant clinical experience in endocrinology, especially in diabetes, with skills in project management and stakeholder engagement. Purpose of the Position Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC). The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District. This position is temporary with the possibility of extension based on performance, funding and need. Selection Criteria MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered. Sound clinical knowledge in Endocrinology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty. Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Endocrinology Consultant. High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. Preparedness to participate in any oncall service, including oncall rosters already existing or established. Strong research interest in the field of Endocrinology and long term commitment to basic/clinical research. PhD in Endocrinology and publications in the field of Endocrinology are highly desirable.
